Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
VoltKit provides tools and infrastructure. We do not create, choose, watch or edit what people upload, stream, say or send with them. This policy sets the rules for that content and conduct. It is part of the Terms of Service, and it is the “rules and regulations” we publish under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
1. Who this policy applies to
- Everyone who uses VoltKit: visitors, account holders and people who try the live demo.
- Our VoltKit RTC customers, and through them every person who uses an app built on VoltKit RTC. Those people do not have an account with us; the customer who runs the app must hold them to rules at least as strict as these (section 4).
2. Content that is not allowed
Do not upload, stream, broadcast, display, send, store or share anything that:
- belongs to someone else and that you have no right to use;
- is obscene or pornographic, is paedophilic, invades someone's privacy (including bodily privacy), insults or harasses anyone on the basis of gender, is racially or ethnically objectionable, relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling, is an online game that causes harm to its users, or promotes enmity between groups on grounds of religion or caste with intent to incite violence;
- is harmful to children, including any sexual content involving a person under 18;
- infringes a patent, trademark, copyright or other intellectual property right;
- deceives or misleads people about where a message came from, or knowingly spreads information that is false or misleading, including content made or altered with AI to look real without saying so;
- impersonates another person, brand or organisation;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with other countries or public order, incites any cognisable offence, obstructs the investigation of an offence, or insults another nation;
- contains a virus or other code meant to damage, interrupt or take over any system;
- is an online game, or advertises one, that the law does not permit;
- shows intimate images of anyone, or a person in a sexual act, without their consent;
- threatens, harasses, bullies, defames or stalks anyone, or reveals someone's personal information without consent;
- promotes terrorism, violent extremism, self-harm, or the sale of weapons, drugs or other illegal goods;
- breaks any law in force in India, or in the place where it is sent or received.
3. Activity that is not allowed
Do not use VoltKit to:
- commit or help with fraud, phishing, scams, spam or unsolicited bulk messages;
- record, watch or listen to people without the consent the law requires, or secretly broadcast anyone;
- copy someone's voice or face, or make realistic AI-generated audio or video of a real person, without their documented consent, or pass off AI-generated content as real;
- run or support an emergency, life-safety or medical service that people depend on to call for help;
- attack, overload, probe or scan VoltKit or anyone else's systems, including with our network checkers on addresses you are not allowed to test;
- get around security, rate limits, room and viewer limits, usage metering, billing or account verification, or reach other people's accounts, projects or data;
- create accounts automatically or in bulk, or open extra accounts for more free minutes or conversions;
- resell or share access to VoltKit RTC without a written agreement with us;
- copy, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, except where the law expressly allows it.
4. If you build on VoltKit RTC
If you build an app, website or service on VoltKit RTC, you are its operator. We only carry its audio, video and messages. You must:
- have your own terms of use and privacy notice for your users, which forbid at least the content and activity in section 2 and section 3, and enforce them;
- give your users a way to report content and other users, and act on reports and on notices we forward to you within the times the law sets (the Content & Grievance Policy lists them);
- provide moderation suited to your app, such as the ability to remove a participant, mute someone or end a room, which VoltKit RTC's API gives you;
- meet every legal duty that applies to your app, including the IT Act, 2000 and its Intermediary Rules if you are an intermediary, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, where you are the Data Fiduciary for your users' data (see the Data Processing Terms);
- get any consent the law requires before recording or broadcasting people, and verifiable parental consent before processing a child's personal data; do not offer features meant to track or target children;
- keep your API secrets safe; anything done with your keys is your responsibility;
- tell us at once if you learn that your app is being used for something this policy forbids.
5. Live demo rules
The live demo on /rtc/demo lets anyone go live for 10 minutes with up to five invited viewers. By ticking the box before going live or joining, you agree to these rules as well as the rest of this policy:
- You must be 18 or older. Invite only people you know and trust.
- Stream only yourself, and people and places that have agreed to appear. No nudity or sexual content, no violence, hate or harassment, nothing illegal, and nothing from section 2.
- Do not record, screenshot or rebroadcast other people from the demo without their consent. Do not share personal details, such as phone numbers, addresses or ID numbers, in chat.
- Music, animations and anything else you add must be yours or used with permission. Demo gifts are free and have no value.
- You alone are responsible for what you stream, say and share. VoltKit does not record the video, does not watch rooms as they happen and cannot vouch for anyone in them. The host can remove chat messages and end the room at any time.
- We may end any demo room, block anyone from the demo and keep the room record, as the Privacy Policy describes, to deal with abuse or a legal request.
6. What we do about breaches
- We do not monitor what passes through VoltKit and are not obliged to. We act when we learn of a breach: from a report, a court or government order, or our own security systems.
- Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content we host, end live sessions, disable an API key, suspend or delete a project or an account, or refuse future service. Where the law or safety requires, we act first and explain afterwards.
- We report child sexual abuse material and other offences to the authorities where the law requires it, and we keep and share information with law enforcement when we are lawfully asked to.
- Suspending a customer's project does not refund minutes used in breach of this policy. Our full rights are in the Terms of Service.
7. Reporting a breach
To report content or behaviour that breaks this policy, use the report form (no account needed), saying where it is (the app, room code or link), what it is and when you saw it. The Content & Grievance Policy explains what happens next. If someone is in immediate danger, call 112 first.
