How to use the svga player
- Choose or drop an .svga file. It starts playing at once, whole in a box of its own shape.
- Tap for sound if your browser asks: browsers keep a page quiet until you tap or click it.
- Switch the frame to Phone 9:16, Square or Wide 16:9 to see how the animation fits the screens your app shows it on.
- Pick a background: transparent, black, white, a live-room colour, green screen, or your own picture, such as a screenshot of your app.
- Pause, play from the start, or turn looping off to watch it once, the way a gift plays when it is sent.
Features
- Plays SVGA 2.0 animations with their sound, in step with the picture
- Any shape fits whole: 9:16, 1:1, 16:9, or a very tall or wide gift
- Frames for phone, square and wide screens, to check the fit
- Backgrounds: transparency, six colours, or your own picture
- Size, shape, frame rate, frames, length, sound tracks and layers at a glance
- Nothing is uploaded: the file and your background stay on your device
Check an SVGA before it ships
An SVGA file plays on top of whatever your app shows: a live room, a profile, a chat. A gift that looks right on a white page can show a dark fringe over video, run off the edge of a phone screen, or play without the sound you added. Playing it here, in the frames and over the backgrounds your app uses, shows these before your users see them.
Use your own picture as the background, such as a screenshot of your live room, to see exactly how the animation overlaps your interface: where it lands, what it covers, and whether its soft edges blend in.
- Transparent edges: try black, white and green screen. A halo or fringe shows up against at least one of them.
- Fit: switch between Phone 9:16, Square and Wide 16:9. The animation is always shown whole, as most apps play gifts.
- Sound: if the file has sound, its tracks are listed and play in step with the frames.
Sound in SVGA files
SVGA 2.0 files can carry sound: an MP3 stored inside the file, with the frame where it starts and stops. The player starts each sound when the animation reaches its frame, stops it at its end, and starts it again each time the animation loops. Pausing pauses the sound with the picture.
Browsers do not let a page play sound until you tap or click it, so the first time a file with sound plays you may see Tap for sound. Once you tap, the sound joins the picture where it is.
What the player supports
The player opens SVGA 2.0 files, the format today's SVGA tools export, up to 60 MB. Older SVGA 1.x files, which are zip archives, need to be exported again as SVGA 2.0 from the tool that made them.
Layers drawn as shapes, pictures, transparency, transforms, clipping and sound all play. Matte layers (a layer that masks another) are not drawn, so an animation that relies on them can look different from your app.
