Split PDF

Extract pages from a PDF by range, or split every page into its own file. Type ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10 and download the results individually or as a zip. Your document never leaves your browser.

How to use the split pdf

  1. Drop a PDF onto the upload area or click Choose file. The page count appears once it's read.
  2. Choose Extract pages and type the pages you want, such as 1-3, 5, 8-. Or choose Every page separately.
  3. Decide whether the selected ranges should become one PDF or one PDF per range.
  4. Click Extract pages and download the results.

Features

  • Page ranges with commas, dashes and open ends (8- means 8 to the last page)
  • One PDF per range, or all selected pages combined
  • Every-page mode for splitting a document into single pages
  • Zip download for multiple outputs
  • Live validation of the range text against the real page count

Range syntax

The pages field accepts a comma-separated list where each part is a page or a range:

  • 5 – just page 5
  • 2-6 – pages 2 to 6 inclusive
  • 8- – page 8 to the end; -3 means pages 1 to 3
  • 1-3, 5, 8- – three parts, which become three PDFs unless Combine is on

What is preserved

Pages are copied out of the original without rasterising, so text stays selectable, vector graphics stay sharp and images keep their quality. Annotations and form fields attached to the extracted pages come along; document-level bookmarks don't, because they refer to page positions that no longer exist.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see page thumbnails before choosing?

Not yet. Rendering page previews needs a large PDF rendering engine that would slow down the page for everyone; it's planned as an optional feature. For now the page count is shown and the range text is validated against it.

How do I remove a page from a PDF?

Extract every page except the unwanted one, with Combine into one PDF switched on. For a 10-page document where page 4 should go, enter 1-3, 5-10.

The tool says the PDF is password-protected. What now?

Open the file in a PDF viewer, enter the password, save an unlocked copy and split that one.

Is there a size limit?

Files up to 200 MB are accepted. Splitting is quick because pages are copied, not re-rendered.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
