Merging PDFs is one of the most common document tasks: attaching a signed page to a contract, bundling invoices for an expense claim, or turning a folder of scans into one file. You do not need desktop software, and you do not need to upload confidential documents anywhere. The whole job runs in your browser.
Step 1: Gather the files
Put the PDFs you want to combine in one folder so you can select them together. Check that none are password-protected: an encrypted PDF cannot be merged until it is unlocked (open it in a PDF viewer with the password and save a copy).
Step 2: Add them to the merge tool
- Open Merge PDF and drop the files onto the upload area, or click Choose files. Up to 50 files, each up to 200 MB.
- Each file shows its page count once it has been read. A file that cannot be opened is marked and skipped.
Step 3: Put them in order
Drag the rows to reorder, or use the arrow buttons if you prefer the keyboard. The final document follows the list from top to bottom. Remove anything you added by mistake with the ✕ button.
Step 4: Merge and download
Click Merge PDFs. The tool copies every page into a new document and offers merged.pdf for download, showing the total page count and file size. Open it to confirm the order before sending it on.
Tips
- Merging a cover page and a scanned body? Create the cover in any editor, export it as PDF, and place it first.
- Combining photos with PDFs? Convert the photos first with JPG to PDF or Image to PDF, then merge.
- Need to remove pages from the result? Use Split PDF with a range such as
1-3, 5-9to drop page 4.
Common problems
- "This PDF is password-protected". Unlock it first, as described above. The tool does not attempt to bypass passwords.
- "Doesn't look like a valid PDF". The file may be corrupted or may be another format renamed to .pdf. Opening it in a viewer will confirm.
- Bookmarks disappeared. Bookmarks refer to page positions in the original file; page-level content, links and form fields are preserved, but document-level outlines are not.
Frequently asked questions
Will the merged PDF lose quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-rendering, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
Can I merge only some pages of a PDF?
Extract the pages you need with Split PDF first, then merge the results. A page-picker inside the merge tool is on the roadmap.
Why is my merged file huge?
Each input keeps its embedded fonts and images. Scanned PDFs are essentially large photos; compressing the scans before merging is the only way to shrink them.
