ZEGOCLOUD alternative: VoltKit RTC, with chat included

ZEGOCLOUD prices voice, video and in-app chat on separate lines, in US dollars. VoltKit RTC prices each participant by the media used, in rupees, billed per second, and chat comes with every room.

Every ZEGOCLOUD figure is the list price read on 2026-10-24, from its pricing page or its 2022 SDK pricing doc, with the URL beside it; VoltKit's rates are read live from its price list. The other vendors are on the comparison of every video API.

VoltKit RTC: ₹99 (≈ $1.04) per 1,000 participant-minutes for Full HD video at the list prices published on 2026-10-24 by the vendors compared.

The pricing page lists one voice and one video rate per 1,000 participant-minutes; the tier figures come from an older SDK pricing doc written for accounts created before 9 December 2022. Live streaming is an audience line and is not compared.

Billing units

How ZEGOCLOUD counts a video tier, and how VoltKit does

VoltKit bills each participant the highest media they send or receive, sampled every 5 seconds and charged per second; one video rate covers 480p, 720p and 1080p at 30 fps, and receiving several streams does not change it.

  • The pricing page does not state the video tier. The 2022 SDK pricing doc counts per user by aggregate resolution for accounts created after 9 December 2022, and per stream for older accounts.docs.zegocloud.comread 2026-10-24

Chat

Chat: priced per monthly active user there, included here

ZEGOCLOUD sells in-app chat by monthly active users, on top of call minutes. On VoltKit every room has a chat channel the moment it exists, and people who only read along join on a chat-only connection that is not metered as a participant.

  • ZEGOCLOUD In-app Chat: $99 per 10,000 MAU. Priced separately from calling.zegocloud.comread 2026-10-24
  • VoltKit chat messages are not charged. A project may send 20,000 messages a day plus 200 for every participant-minute of live usage that day; each channel keeps its most recent 500 messages, and the allowance can be raised for a project. Chat guide

What you build

Voice rooms, live rooms and PK battles

The rooms ZEGOCLOUD customers often build (voice chat rooms, audio and video broadcasting rooms with co-hosts, multi-guest live rooms) run on one VoltKit room model: hosts and seated guests publish, everyone else in the same room watches or listens, and chat and gift events flow beside them.

Interactive live rooms: hosts and seated guests on air, the audience in the same room; not CDN broadcast.

What VoltKit does

  • Roles signed into each token by your backend (host, cohost, moderator, viewer) and enforced by the service
  • Raise-hand and promote to bring a viewer on stage; force-mute, remove and end the room from the server side
  • Seats as named slots one person holds at a time, with a grace window when a connection drops
  • Chat in every room, with chat-only connections for people who only read along

What your app builds

  • The seat layout: 5-seater, 9-seater, 12-seater or 20-seater
  • PK timers, scores and results for 1v1 PK, 1-vs-N PK, 2v2 team PK or family PK, kept over chat
  • Gifts, coins and payouts, with gift events sent as chat messages

5-seater, 9-seater, 12-seater or 20-seater: the seat count is your app's layout. The service sets no limit on how many people publish in a room, so your app decides how many seats it shows. 1v1 PK, 1-vs-N PK, 2v2 team PK and family PK are app logic built on rooms, chat and the promote-and-reconnect recipe; VoltKit has no PK module.

Migration

Moving from ZEGOCLOUD

There is no ZEGOCLOUD-specific migration guide; the concept map of the Agora migration guide applies. Your backend keeps deciding who joins which room with which role and mints a short-lived token for each person; the app joins with one StreamClient.

VoltKit's rate for the same thing

One video rate covers 480p, 720p and 1080p at 30 fps with HD audio included; voice has a standard and an HD rate; 60 fps upgrades are charged only while delivered. The same list is on the pricing page, and pricing in India adds a participant-minute calculator and paying by UPI, card or net banking.

Each participant is billed one rate at a time: the highest of what they send and what they receive, recorded every 5 seconds and charged per second.

Limits

What VoltKit RTC does not offer

  • Interactive live rooms: hosts and seated guests on air, the audience in the same room; not CDN broadcast. Viewers are participants, billed at the rate of what they receive.
  • Video above 1080p: VoltKit video goes up to 1080p, at 30 fps or with a 60 fps upgrade.
  • A released native iOS (Swift) SDK: it is in preview. The Flutter SDK builds iOS apps today.
  • No PK module, gift system or coin wallet: PK battles, gifts and wallets are app logic built on rooms and chat.

Frequently asked questions

Is ZEGOCLOUD's $3.99 video rate HD or Full HD?

Its pricing page does not say (zegocloud.com, read 2026-10-24). The SDK pricing doc last updated 2022-12-08, which applies to accounts created before 9 December 2022, lists HD up to 720p at $3.99 and Full HD above 720p to 1080p at $12.99 per 1,000 participant-minutes (docs.zegocloud.com, read 2026-10-24). VoltKit's one video rate covers 480p, 720p and 1080p at 30 fps.

Does ZEGOCLOUD charge for in-app chat separately?

Yes: its pricing page lists In-app Chat at $99 per 10,000 MAU (zegocloud.com, read 2026-10-24). VoltKit includes chat with every room; chat messages and chat-only connections are not charged.

Is there a VoltKit allowance like ZEGOCLOUD's 10,000 minutes free on sign-up?

New accounts get a one-time testing trial: 2,500 participant-minutes on your first project, at any quality; up to 25 people per room until the first paid recharge. The number is read live and changes for campaigns.

Is there a migration guide from ZEGOCLOUD?

Not a ZEGOCLOUD-specific one. The Agora migration guide's concept map applies: a room per call or live room, a string identity per user, roles signed into a token your backend mints, and chat built into the room connection. The token-server guide builds the endpoint in Node.js, Python, Go, PHP and Java.

What does a 60-minute Full HD 1:1 call cost on VoltKit?

Two people for 60 minutes are 120 participant-minutes. At today's Full HD video rate that is 120 participant-minutes × 99 ÷ 1,000 = 11.88 credits, which is ₹11.88 (≈ $0.13), billed per second.

Does ZEGOCLOUD bill per second?

The 2022 SDK pricing doc bills a call under one minute as one minute; later rounding rules were not checked (docs.zegocloud.com, read 2026-10-24). VoltKit records usage in seconds and bills per participant-second, with nothing rounded up to a minute.

What is a participant-minute?

One participant connected for one minute = one participant-minute. Ten people in a room for six minutes use 60 participant-minutes, viewers included. VoltKit records usage in seconds and bills per participant-second, so nothing is rounded up to the next minute.

Are these prices current?

Each vendor figure is the list price published on 2026-10-24 at the URL beside it; the figures are re-checked monthly and the check date is printed on the page. VoltKit's rates are read live from its price list, so they are today's.
