How to use the image resizer

  1. Drop one or more images onto the upload area, or click Choose files.
  2. Enter a width or height in pixels (the other side follows when the aspect ratio is locked), pick a preset, or switch to percentage mode.
  3. Optionally change the output format and quality.
  4. Click Resize. Preview the result, then download single files or a zip.

Features

  • Pixel or percentage resizing with a live size preview
  • Aspect-ratio lock, or free resizing when you need exact dimensions
  • Presets for HD, Full HD, 4K, square and common social media sizes
  • Batch resizing: the same settings apply to every image
  • High-quality resampling and EXIF orientation handling

Resizing versus compressing

Resizing changes how many pixels an image has; compressing changes how efficiently those pixels are stored. If a photo is 4,000 pixels wide and will be shown at 800, resizing removes the wasted detail and usually shrinks the file far more than compression alone. For the smallest result, resize first and then run the output through the Image Compressor.

Upscaling

You can enter a size larger than the original, and the tool will scale the image up using smooth interpolation. This makes a bigger file but cannot add real detail; the result will look softer. Proper AI upscaling is on the roadmap, so for now enlarging is best kept to modest amounts.

Preset sizes

Presets fit the image inside the target box while keeping its proportions, so nothing is cropped or stretched. The included presets are:

  • HD 1280×720, Full HD 1920×1080, 4K 3840×2160 and a 1080×1080 square
  • Instagram post 1080×1350 and story 1080×1920
  • YouTube thumbnail 1280×720, Open Graph 1200×630, X header 1500×500, LinkedIn banner 1584×396

Frequently asked questions

Will resizing reduce the quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp because the resampler averages neighbouring pixels. Making it larger softens it. Saving as JPG or WebP also applies lossy compression, controlled by the quality slider; choose PNG for a lossless result.

How do I resize without distorting the image?

Keep the aspect ratio lock on (the link icon). Enter one side and the other is calculated. Presets always keep the ratio and fit the image inside the target size.

Can I resize to an exact width and height that changes the proportions?

Yes. Unlock the aspect ratio and enter both values. The image will be stretched or squashed to fit exactly, which is occasionally what a template requires.

Is there a maximum size?

Output is capped at 16,384 pixels per side, and very large sources are limited to about 8,000 pixels on the longest side to keep browsers stable. Files up to 60 MB are accepted.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens in your browser using the Canvas API.
